Programs

MACCA provides a variety of programs and services to the York-Region and GTA community. While our programs are developed with a Caribbean lens, they are open to all people from all backgrounds. Browse through our programs below to discover more about what MACCA has to offer you and your family.

Design Your Future Summer Youth Internship

Design Your Future Summer Youth Internship is a youth group guided by MACCA.

As a group we come together to hang out, discuss important issues, plan youth events, and to make a difference in our community.

As a group we make sure youth in York-Region have a voice, and we help meet the needs of other youth through events and programs we develop and participate in.

Joining our group is a great way to meet new friends, gain new skills, get volunteer hours, and become a leader in your community.

Meetings are held at 505 Hood Road, Unit 5 in Markham Ontario. All youth are welcome.

Saturday School

We are currently working in collaboration with several organizations within York Region to re-establish a Saturday Cultural Program.

Steel Pan Program

Discover the rhythmic magic of our Steel Pan Program at the Markham African Caribbean Canadian Association (MACCA). We offer dynamic steel pan classes for both youth and adults, expertly guided by the renowned instructor Taurean Clark. Our program is not just about learning music; it’s a celebration of culture and community spirit. Our young musicians have dazzled audiences at prestigious events like the Markham Music Festival, YRP Day for the Elimination of Racism, Holidays in the Village, and even the Pan Am Games, showcasing their talent and the rich heritage of steel pan music.

Classes are held every Saturday at the MACCA  office.  There are two cohorts every year, Jan-Jun and Sept-Dec. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills, our welcoming environment fosters growth and camaraderie among all age groups.
